Aluminum driveshaft to replace factory steel OE units. 3" aluminum shaft, American made universal with built-in grease fittings. Aluminum driveshafts offer better drive-ability. The shaft is one pound lighter than stock. Available for both manual or automatic MX5 transmissions. Please note what model year the Miata is (1990-1993 or 1994-2005) when ordering so we can send the proper length shaft.

Note - shaft may require lite clearance to PPF around rear U-joints on some models.

quiets the drivetrain

My car has an 8lb flywheel and made a lot of drive train noise, especially on deceleration from high revs. I swapped out a 209k mi worn out stock drive shaft for the V8R one and the drive train still makes all of those noises, but they are much quieter. The car feels more refined. I measured this part at 0.6lb lighter than the stock unit, so that's a small bonus. Only downside is I had to clearance the PPF. It needed a chamfer at the front U-joint and I also had to reduce the thickness of the PPF about 2/3 back from the front between 2 of the lightening holes. It took a while to figure out where the contact was since the clearances change as you drive the car. I ended up degreasing the PPF and using machinists layout fluid to find the interference.
