Lead times vary up to 40 weeks. All V8R parts are in stock and may ship ahead of time. Choose between the V8R Stoptech ST-42 or STR-42 brake kit. Both were designed from input and feedback from the MX5 community to meet the performance and price point criteria for the weekend warrior track rat, while providing the refined street performance expected at this price point. The 11.75″ versions meet SCCA STU and STL rules. These kits are compatible with Miata NA and NB models and remove up to 9.5lbs per corner of unsprung weight depending on the model year.

The V8R StopTech STR42 Brake Kit

  • Stoptech STR-42 Trophy calipers, made to V8R specs and matched to OEM master cylinder
  • V8R directionally 11.75″ rotors (American gray iron) – largest rotor size available to fit under a 15″ wheel
  • Motorsports-grade anti-rattle floating rotor or fixed mounting hardware
  • V8R billet 6061 caliper brackets with mounting hardware
  • DOT approved stainless steel brake lines
  • Type-III black hard coat anodized hats

Calipers

Featuring ST42 or STR42 brake calipers, the smallest and lightest 4-piston caliper developed from StopTech weighing in at only 4lbs. Designed with high fluid pressures and forces in-mind, the ST-42 and STR-42 are the preferred option for blade type rotor systems. These stiff, lightweight calipers, provide a level of performance that did not exist before. The ST(R)42 calipers embed the same race-winning paradigms of low mass, stiffness, patented bridge bolt, with application flexibility. ST42 calipers are forged with a minimal machined finish. STR42 calipers are fully machined billet construction.

Rotors

Available with the standard Wilwood Ultralite32 straight vane or with upgraded V8R Directional or PFC slotted rotors. Floating kits are standard with V8R directional floating rotors.

Brake Pads

Our kits are sold without pads to allow the end-user to select the pad type that best suits their needs. We offer a handful of pad options and would be happy to provide insight into what pads would work best for your needs. This kit uses the DR22/Wilwood 7816 pad shape(16mm). That means there are already a huge amount of compatible brake pads for this kit! Pads are readily available for this brake kit from the following manufacturers:

Wheel Fitment

When wanted to offer the best performance in every single category, including wheel fitment. Our 11.75″  kits will most current aftermarket 15″ wheels. Check the wheel fitment templates below. Proper wheel clearance is the responsibility of the end-user.

Design

All V8R parts are CAD designed, FEA tested and machined in house using today’s latest CNC equipment. This kit has been tested extensively in the harshest conditions, both on the street and at the race track, to insure the absolute best performance.

Spare Parts

Like any kit destined for years of abuse, a ready supply of spare parts is incredibly important when considering whether or not to buy an aftermarket braking system. We took this into consideration when designing this kit, and as such are able to keep the price of consumables lower than almost any other brake kit on the market today. Rotor rings replacement start at $32, brake pads from as low as $48, and replacement hardware are all readily available through us, as well as many online vendors. Because this caliper uses a pad shape that has been in production for over two decades, and a rotor size and bolt pattern shared with many off-the-shelf brake solutions, parts will always be affordable and readily available.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND. The most important part on my V8R track car is the brakes. I definitely prefer the Stoptech over brand "W". Both are good but the Stoptech is nicer product. It's nice being able to go deep into a corners with the confidence of the Stoptech caliper.
