The V8R ND STR42 kit was designed from input and feedback for the ND MX5 community to meet the performance and price point criteria for the weekend warrior track rat while providing the refined street performance expected at this price point. The 11.75″ versions meet SCCA STU and STL rules and can be upgraded to a 12.19″ kit if desired.
Calipers: Featuring STR-42, the smallest and lightest 4-piston caliper developed from StopTech at 3.3lbs. Designed with high fluid pressures and forces in mind, the STR-42 is the preferred option for blade-type rotor systems. The stiff, lightweight STR-42 caliper provides a level of performance that did not exist before. The STR-42 embeds the same race-winning paradigms of low mass, stiffness, patented bridge bolt, and application flexibility. ST42 calipers are forged with machine finish. STR42 calipers are fully machined billet.
Rotors: Mounted over 11.75x.810″ directional rotors and V8R custom floating hats. Included anti-rattle hardware significantly reduced pad knock and keeps brake noise to a minimum. Pads: Our kits are sold without pads to allow the end-user to select the pad type that best suits their needs. We offer a handful of pad options and would be happy to provide insight to what pads would work best for your needs.
This kit uses the DR22/Wilwood 7816 pad shape(16mm). That means there are already a huge amount of pads for this kit! Pads are readily available for this brake kit from the following manufacturers:

Wheel Fitment: We wanted to offer the best performance in every single category, including wheel fitment. *This Brake Kit may fit 15-inch wheels. Please refer to our StopTech ST-42 Wheel Fitment Template, and STR-42 Wheel Fitment Template to review the wheel clearance diagrams in detail to ensure these kits will fit your specific wheel size.
Design: All V8R parts are CAD designed, FEA tested, and machined in-house with today’s latest CNC equipment. This kit has been tested extensively in the harshest conditions, both on the street and at the race track.
Spare Parts: Like any kit destined to be used for years on the track, the ready supply of spare parts is incredibly important when considering whether or not to buy an aftermarket braking system for your NC MX5. We took this into consideration when designing this kit, and as such are able to keep the price of consumables lower than almost any other brake kit on the market today. Rotor rings, brake pads, and hardware are all readily available through us, as well as many online vendors. Because this caliper uses a pad shape that has been in production for over two decades, along with a rotor size and bolt pattern shared with many off-the-shelf brake solutions, parts will always be affordable and readily available.

I ordered this kit as a solution to my continually failing piston seals on a previous kit. I have been beating these brakes up with back to back and longer sessions with a co-driver on my local track (Harris Hill Raceway) and at Circuit of the Americas.
I’ve set new personal bests with this kit which has basically been worry free for me.

*Biggest issues with the brake clearance is not normally from the spokes but the barrel.
*I prefer to use a 5mm spacer on ARP studs on 9” wheels to keep it away from the inboard components.
